Since 2010, The Bernson Group has provided asset-based loans to residential builders for property acquisition, remodels, and new construction. We are a private lender, which allows us to deliver custom solutions for each builder in the timely manner the market demands.

The Bernson Group began lending in Atlanta, Georgia and expanded to our second primary market in Charleston, South Carolina, with additional markets in the Southeast, including Savannah, GA and Wilmington, NC. This positions us in several strong housing markets, with low inventories below the national average. We are efficient and effective so we can continually assist builders in growing their business.

Our Team

The Bernson Group has grown steadily since 2010 by staying focused on trust, performance, and relationships. From its beginnings in asset-based lending during a challenging financial period, the company has evolved to serve higher-end residential builders across key Southeastern markets. Our team’s depth of experience, commitment to service, and focus on long-term partnerships have been key drivers of our continued success. Gary Bernson

President

After a successful Corporate Sales career, Gary started the business in Atlanta in 2010 and subsequently integrated the second primary Charleston market in 2014. Gary resides in Charleston with his wife Rebecca and spends time in Atlanta based on business needs.

Christina Kirk

Chief Financial Officer

A CPA & MBA with over 20 years of experience, including at Ernst & Young & Benefitfocus as the VP, Corporate Controller. Christina joined TBG in early 2018 and resides in Charleston with her husband Andrew and two children.

Matt Bernson

Chief Operating Officer

Matt is responsible for the Atlanta market, underseeing due diligence & underwriting, inspection management, and borrower relations. Matt has been with the company since 2016 and lives in Atlanta with his wife Tyler and daughter Hallie.

Lindsey Hillman

VP, Operations & Business Development - Carolinas

Lindsey founded a successful property management company in 2006 and has extensive real estate and legal experience in Charleston. Lindsey joined the company in 2020. She is a College of Charleston graduate and lives in Charleston with her family.

Heidi Neven

Operations Manager

Heidi joined TBG in 2024 after an almost 30-year career managing Broadway productions. A New York native, she now calls Charleston her home.

Elliot Flamm

Elliot joins The Bernson Group as Director of Operations - Georgia following a 13+ year career in supply chain sales and operations. A graduate of the University of Georgia, he is based in Atlanta and supports the firm’s operational strategy and execution.
